Northwestern kicker/punter Stefan Demos was named one of three Lou Groza Award "Stars of the Week" after connecting on a career-high four field goals at Purdue. College football's top kicking award, the Lou Groza Collegiate Place Kicker Award sponsored by the Palm Beach County Sports Commission recognizes three of the top kickers each week from Football Bowl Subdivision teams as the "Stars of the Week". Demos set a career mark with four field goals as the Wildcats upended Purdue, 27-21. Demos, who also handles the punting responsibilities, hit from 18, 25, 35 and 39 yards to help the Wildcats to their third straight Big Ten road win. Demos is a perfect eight-for-eight in field goals this season. An outstanding high school soccer player at Horizon High School in Scottsdale, Ariz., Demos had considered an overseas soccer career before opting for Northwestern football. The Lou Groza Award will be presented as part of the ESPN Home Depot College Football Awards Show in Orlando, Florida on Thursday, December 10.
