FH: Indiana's Mutembwa Named 2010 Rhodes Scholar

Indiana's Mutsa Mutembwa is the fourth Hoosier student-athlete to be selected to receive a prestigious Rhodes Scholarship. Mutembwa, a double major in economics and mathematics, has aspirations of becoming a financial economist and returning to her native Zimbabwe to help solve the nation's struggle with hyperinflation.

Mutembwa was a three-year performer for the Indiana field hockey squad and helped lead the Hoosiers to the Big Ten Tournament final and NCAA Championship and. She ends her IU athletic career with 53 defensive saves, tying her for the most in school history.

"Mutsa Mutembwa personifies what Indiana University student-athletes are all about," said IU Vice President and Director of Athletics Fred Glass. "Her commitment to her education is remarkable, her dedication to her sport is commendable, and her interest and concern for the world around her is simply extraordinary. Indiana University is proud to be represented by a young woman like Mutsa Mutembwa, and we congratulate her on this extraordinary achievement."
