Oh What a night...Penn State's Jeff Brooks lays down a reverse jam that makes ESPN's No. 1 play of the day. Minnesota scored 90 plus points for the second game in a row. The Hoosiers go to the Garden and pound Pitt the entire game and win. Illinois protected its turf in Champaign and defeated the SEC's Vanderbilt. The Big Ten is now 63-26 in the non-conference season. Recaps from all five games follow.

Three more games scheduled for tonight.

PENN STATE def. Maryland-Baltimore County, 58-42
Behind a 20-3 run over 10:07 and spanning two halves, the Nittany Lion basketball team (6-3) posted a 58-42 win over the University of Maryland-Baltimore County (0-8) Tuesday night at the Bryce Jordan Center. The inside tandem of Jeff Brooks and Andrew Jones combined to score 24 points and pull down 16 rebounds to lead Penn State to its fourth win in five games and ninth straight at home. Read more...

Northern Iowa def. IOWA, 67-50
The University of Iowa men's basketball team whittled an 11-point halftime deficit to six early in the second half, only to fall to an experienced University of Northern Iowa squad, 67-50, on Tuesday in the McLeod Center. The Hawkeyes (3-6 overall) played tough throughout the game, but the Panthers, returning nine of 11 players from last year's NCCA tournament team, proved to be too experienced for the young Hawkeyes. MINNESOTA def. Morgan State, 94-64
Minnesota remained undefeated at home this season, improving to 6-3 overall, with a decisive 94-64 victory over Morgan State on a snowy Tuesday evening at Williams Arena. Morgan State's bus wound up stuck in traffic due to the snowy conditions outside, and the Bears first took the floor with a little less than 40 minutes remaining before the tipoff. Whether or not that was a factor, Morgan State got off to a slippery start. Minnesota jumped out to an 18-0 lead over the first 7:31 of the game, and never looked back against a team that is coming off an NCAA Tournament appearance last season, and had played well in losing by nine points at 22nd-ranked Louisville, and defeating Arkansas earlier this season. ILLINOIS def. Vanderbilt, 79-68
Demetri McCamey scored 23 points and had five assists to lead Illinois past Vanderbilt 79-68 on Tuesday night. McCamey buried a pair of free throws with less than a minute left that finished the Commodores. But his 8-for-10 shooting fired the Illini offense much of the night. He's averaging 12.6 points and 5.6 assists a game this season for Illinois (7-2). Read more...

INDIANA def. Pittsburgh, 74-64
With solid defense and a commitment to scoring inside, the Indiana University men's basketball team (4-4) secured a 74-64 win Tuesday night over Pittsburgh (7-2 ) at the Jimmy V Classic in Madison Square Garden. With the win, Hoosier Coach Tom Crean recorded his 200th career triumph as a head coach. The Hoosiers showed plenty of toughness against a Big East squad, outscoring the Panthers 40-20 in the paint and making a season-high 25 free throws in 34 attempts. Sophomore Tom Pritchard scored the first six points of the game for IU, but the Hoosiers trailed 10-6 early, but would take their first lead on a pair of charity tosses by freshman Christian Watford. The Hoosiers bench also got key contributions from freshmen Derek Elston and Bobby Capobianco as they built up a six point lead midway through the half. Read more...
