Four Big Ten teams are ranked in the final AVCA coaches' poll, including Penn State, the unanimous No. 1 selection. The Nittany Lions are followed by No. 4 Minnesota, No. 9 Michigan and No. 10 Illinois. Ohio State is receiving votes outside the top 25. The Big Ten is the only conference to have four top-10 teams.

Penn State is No. 1 in the final poll for the fourth time, which ties the program for third in AVCA history. Michigan is making its highest appearance in the final poll and its first-ever in the final top 10. Illinois is appearing in the final top 10 for the sixth time and is making its highest showing in the final poll since 1992, when it ranked sixth. Minnesota has finished the season ranked in the top 10 four times and the top five three times. The Gophers have appeared in nine final polls and are making their highest showing since 2004, when they ranked second.
