Michigan nabbed its second straight weekly award as sophomore Dan Madwed earned the nod as Swimmer of the Week while Purdue sophomore David Boudia collected his 10th career weekly diving accolade.
Madwed was one of two multiple-event winners for the seventh-ranked Wolverines as Michigan defeated No. 20 Indiana, 158-82, to kick off Big Ten competition. Madwed picked up an NCAA consideration time in the 200-yard freestyle with a winning time of 1:38.24. In other Big Ten action, Boudia led the Boilermakers to a sweep of the top five places in both springboard events against Michigan State. He scored 377.40 points from the one-meter and tied his season-best score of 469.80 off the three-meter to win both events and help Purdue defeat the Spartans.
