Atop both polls were the Iowa Hawkeyes, who last weekend won their third-straight NWCA/Cliff Keen National Duals Championships. Joining the Hawkeyes in the top five included Ohio State (#3 NWCA, #4 InterMat) and Minnesota (#5/5), who also made successful appearances at the national duals as the Buckeyes went 3-1 and the Gophers went 2-2. Indiana (#12/12), Penn State (#13/13), Wisconsin (#14/21) and Illinois (#19/25) also were rated in this week's rankings. Purdue is receiving votes in the NWCA poll.
In InterMat's weight class rankings, four Big Ten grapplers rule their respective divisions. Indiana's Angel Escobedo is No. 1 at 125, Michigan State's Franklin Gomez leads the 133-pound weight class, Iowa's Brent Metcalf is tops at 149, and Wisconsin's Andrew Howe appears at No. 1 in the 165-pound weight class.
