MiddleSchoolT-Shirt.JPGNo. 2 seed Michigan State is set to square off against No. 7 Michigan in today's first quarterfinal contest at 11:30 a.m.  The Spartan faithful always travels well, but today there will be a little extra green in the Conseco Fieldhouse stands.

Fans of the Spartans you ask?  Well, perhaps some will be, but these lime green shirts will adorn several middle school students from the Indianapolis and surrounding communities.  The Big Ten Middle School Curriculum Program has long been a fixture of the Big Ten Women's Basketball Tournament.

As part of the Big Ten Middle School Curriculum Program, central Indiana middle schools have incorporated basketball (through statistics, artwork, etc.) into their curriculum. The middle schools have also paired with Big Ten women's basketball teams in a pen pal program. The program includes 21 central Indiana schools and more than 2,000 students, many of whom receive a free ticket to attend the first tournament game of the team (either Thursday or Friday) they have been paired with all semester.
