Iowa won its Big Ten-opening series with a 4-2 victory in the rubber match on Sunday. Hawkeyes sophomore Phil Schreiber pitched a career-high eight innings, giving up one earned run on five hits with three strikeouts. Kevin Lee picked up his sixth save, retiring the side in order in the ninth. Zach McCool and Phil Keppler led the Iowa offense, each with two hits, one run and an RBI. Craig Lutes and Thomas Shelton had two hits each for the Illini, while Lutes scored a run and Shelton drove one in. Lee Zerrusen was tagged with the loss.

Ohio State scored 10 runs on 13 hits en route to a 10-8 victory over Indiana, securing the series win on Sunday. Brian DeLucia led the Buckeyes, going 3-for-3 with four RBI and a run scored. Dean Wolosiansky earned the win, allowing four earned runs on six hits and three walks with three strikeouts in six innings. Theron Minium picked up his third save this year in a three-inning outing. Josh Lyon led the Hoosiers with three hits, three runs and an RBI, including a solo homer. Minnesota scored all six of its runs in the seventh and eighth innings in a 6-3 win over Big Ten-leading Michigan State on Sunday. The Gophers trailed 3-2 in the bottom of the eighth before Kyle Knudson gave Minnesota its first lead of the day with a two-run double, making it a 4-2 affair in the Gophers' favor. Nick O'Shea had three hits for Minnesota, while Kyle Geason, Trip Schultz and Try Larson had two each, as the Gophers' last four hitters combined to go 9-for-16 in the game. Scott Matyas picked up the win in relief, throwing two scoreless innings with five strikeouts. Jeff Holm led the Spartans with two hits and a pair of RBI.

Penn State erased an early three-run deficit with four runs in the third, then came back again with single runs in the fifth and seventh to take Game 3 of the series against Northwestern, 6-5. Ben Heath extended his career-long hitting streak to 17 games with a 3-for-3 performance. Jesse Alfreno picked up the win in relief, while Heath Johnson tossed a scoreless ninth to grab the save. Paul Snieder had two hits to lead the Wildcats, while Trevor Stevens drove in a pair on one hit and two walks.
