Storylines: One of the Big Ten's four co-leaders, Northwestern heads to Illinois for a three-game set that will be broadcast on the Big Ten Network. Two-way players Paul Snieder and Zach Morton lead the Wildcats on offense, Snieder ranking 10th in the conference with a .377 average and Morton ranking 10th with a .458 on-base percentage. Snieder also has an ERA of 1.93, while Morton holds a 2-4 record on the mound. Casey McMurray fronts the Illini offense with a .367 average and a slugging percentage of .602 which ranks eighth in conference.

Storylines: Indiana and Purdue represent two of the three teams tied for fifth in the Big Ten standings, and both will rely on different strengths in the weekend's series. Purdue owns one of the conference's top pitching staffs with a collective opposing batting average of .271, which is first in the Big Ten, and an ERA of 4.47, which is second. The Boilermakers also lead the conference with 319 strikeouts, led by ace Matt Bischoff who has an ERA of 2.37 and has held opponents to .247 hitting. Indiana boasts one of the nation's most powerful offenses, led by Alex Dickerson and Jerrud Sabourin. Dickerson is first in the Big Ten in slugging (.810), RBI (55) and home runs (17) and second in average (.411), second only to Sabourin's mark of .429.

Wolverine catcher Chris Berset leads the Big Ten in on-base percentage (.480) in all games, played, while Patrick Biondi paces the conference with 52 runs scored.
