MTRACK: Indiana Sweeps First Weekly Awards of 2010 Outdoor Season

The Big Ten Conference office announced on Wednesday the first weekly men's outdoor track and field awards for meets through March 24-31. Indiana swept the first edition of weekly honors for the 2010 campaign as Hoosier freshman Andy Bayer was tabbed Big Ten Track Athlete of the Week and senior Jeff Coover earned the nod as Field Athlete of the Week.

Freshman Andy Bayer led a talented crop of Hoosier harriers at the Stanford Invitational on placing third in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 13:45.75. His effort marks the third-best time in Division I this season and is the fourth-fastest in school history.

Senior Jeff Coover claimed top honors in the pole vault competition at the Alabama Relays, with a mark of 5.35m (17-6.5). His clearance is just a centimeter off his outdoor career best and ranks as the fourth-best mark in Division I this season. READ MORE ...
