W GYM: Former U-M Gymnast Ray to Receive Olympic Medal

Former Michigan gymnast Elise Ray will receive an Olympic bronze medal from the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia after the International Olympic Committee stripped the Chinese team of the bronze on Wednesday.

Ray, along with teammates Tasha Schwikert, Jamie Dantzscher and Kristin Maloney, Dominique Dawes and Amy Chow, will receive the bronze instead.

Ray was a six-time Big Ten Champion, including four wins at the 2004 championships. She also was a three-time NCAA Champion, winning the 2001 all-around title, the 2002 balance beam crown and the 2004 uneven bars championship.
