Minnesota overcame an early 3-0 deficit and trailed late, 4-3, before pulling out a 10-inning win against New Mexico in NCAA Regionals on Saturday. With the win, the Golden Gophers will play on Sunday for the right to advance to Super Regionals.
With the game tied, 4-4, in the 10th, Kyle Knudson knocked a leadoff single, followed by another base hit from Nick O'Shea. Matt Puhl came through with an RBI single to make it a 5-4 game, followed by Kyle Geason who hit a one-run single to put the game at the final 6-4 tally.
The Golden Gophers will play for the Regional title on Sunday at 8 p.m. PT. They will face the winner of the New Mexico vs. Cal State Fullerton contest, which will be played at 4 p.m. PT. All games will be broadcast live on ESPNU. A win would put Minnesota into Super Regionals for the first time in school history. A loss would force a decisive game on Monday.
