University of Minnesota Director of Athletics Joel Maturi announced the hiring of Oregon assistant Jessica Allister as the new head coach of the Golden Gophers' softball program.

Allister has enjoyed great coaching success after a stellar playing career at Stanford that saw her earn All-America honors as a senior in 2004. A standout catcher, she owns the Cardinal's career record for games played (266) and fielding percentage (.994) and helped guide Stanford to two Women's College World Series appearances.

Prior to her coaching stint at Oregon, Allister was an assistant at her alma mater, where the staff earned NFCA West Regional Coaching Staff of the Year in 2009. She was also an assistant at Georgia during the 2005 and 2006 seasons.
