The College Football Performance Awards for the seventh week of college football have been announced, and several Big Ten players were honored. Wisconsin defensive end J.J. Watt was named the National Defensive Performer and Defensive Lineman of the Week, fellow-Badger David Gilreath was selected as the National Kickoff Returner of the Week, Michigan State's Kevin Muma was honored as the National Kickoff Specialist of the Week and fellow-Spartan Dan Conroy was tabbed as the National Placekicker of the Week. The purpose of the College Football Performance Awards is to provide the most scientifically rigorous conferments in college football. Recipients are selected exclusively based upon objective scientific rankings of the extent to which individual players increase the overall effectiveness of their teams.
