Wisconsin defensive end J.J. Watt has been named the FWAA/Bronko Nagurski National Defensive Player of the Week for games on the weekend of Oct. 23. Watt, a 6-6, 292-pound junior from Pewaukee, Wis., registered five tackles (two for loss) last Saturday, including a sack on Iowa's final drive. He also blocked an extra point in the Badgers' 31-30 triumph in Iowa City. Following Iowa's first touchdown, Watt broke through to thwart the extra point. With 26 seconds remaining in the game, he recorded an 11-yard sack that pushed the Hawkeyes back to their own 38-yard line. Before Iowa could move into field goal position, time expired. Watt is on the 2010 Bronko Nagurski Trophy Watch List. The Bronko Nagurski Trophy will be presented to the best defensive player in college football on Dec. 6.
