Five Big Ten teams were mentioned in the Associated Press' Preseason Women's Basketball Poll, which was released on Friday. Ohio State, Iowa and Michigan State appeared in the top 25, while Wisconsin and Penn State were among other teams receiving votes in the first poll of the 2010-11 season.

The Buckeyes, who on Thursday at Big Ten Basketball Media Day were voted the preseason favorite by the coaches and media, rank No. 7 to start the year. Ohio State welcomes back all five starters, including senior Jantel Lavender, who was named Big Ten Preseason Player of the Year Thursday, and junior Samantha Prahalis, to a team that won 31 games and was crowned Big Ten Champions a season ago.

Iowa, which was voted runner-up in the Big Ten Preseason Coaches' and Media Polls, is ranked No. 22, while Michigan State appeared at No. 25 in the inaugural poll of 2010, having been selected to finish third by the Big Ten coaches and media on Thursday.
