FH: Michigan State and Penn State Eliminated

In Saturday's opening round of the NCAA Championship, the Michigan State Spartans dropped a 3-2 OT contest to third-seeded Virginia in the Charlotesville Regional. Michigan State's Sabine van den Assem and Angie Lucik contributed to the Spartans two goals.

Michigan State finishes the season 15-6 overall. Virginia advances to face the winner of the day's next match against Princeton-Wake Forest at 2 p.m. ET on Sunday.

Penn State's season came to a close, as the Nittany Lions fell to fourth-seeded Syracuse 2-1 OT in Saturday's opening round of the NCAA Championship. Penn State's goal came off the stick of Daneen Zug in the 43rd minute with goalkeeper Ayla Halus recording 18 saves. Penn State finishes the season at 14-6.

At 2 p.m. ET, Michigan (15-6) and Ohio State (16-4) open play in the Chapel Hill and University Park Regionals, respectively. The winner of the Michigan-Old Dominion matchup will face North Carolina on Sunday at 2 p.m. ET. The winner of the Ohio State-Albany will meet Syracuse on Sunday at 2 p.m. ET.
