MSCR: Michigan State Falls to No. 4 North Carolina in Penalty Kicks

After playing to a 1-1 draw with No. 4 North Carolina, Michigan State fell to the Tar Heels in penalty kicks, eliminating them from the NCAA Championship. The Spartans opened the scoring on a Cyrus Saydee goal, taking a 1-0 lead in the 65th minute. North Carolina scored with nine seconds remaining in regulation to tie the match and force overtime. Michigan State goalkeeper Avery Steinlage made nine saves in the match. The Spartans close the 2010 season with a 13-7-2 overall record.
