Wisconsin head coach Mick Byrne has been named the Great Lakes region Men's Coach of the Year, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced today. Byrne coached the Badgers to their eighth consecutive Great Lakes regional title last weekend, punching their ticket to next week's NCAA Championships.

The award marks the second Coach of the Year honor for Byrne after he helped Wisconsin to its 12th-straight Big Ten Championships title, reeling in the conference's Coach of the Year award. The regional award is his first since 2008.
