Four Big Ten players were named to the Sporting News All-America team, including Michigan State linebacker Greg Jones, Purdue defensive end Ryan Kerrigan and the Wisconsin due of offensive tackle Gabe Carimi and tight end Lance Kendricks. Jones, Kerrigan and Carimi have now been names first-team All-Americans by each of the five major selectors, while Kendricks was also tabbed for the first team by the American Football Coaches Association and was picked as a second-teamer by the Associated Press and Walter Camp Football Foundation.
