The Big Ten tied for the lead among all conferences with three teams among the top 10 in the final edition of the Bowl Championship Series (BCS) poll. Wisconsin continued to lead the way at No. 5, the program's highest BCS ranking at the end of the regular season and matching its best ranking of all-time achieved twice in November of 2004 and in this year's second-to-last poll. Ohio State ended the regular season at No. 6 in the BCS, the seventh straight season the Buckeyes have appeared among the top 10 in the final BCS rankings. Michigan State was ranked No. 9 in the final BCS poll, the program's highest finish since placing No. 9 at the end of the 1999 campaign.
