CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - Illinois fell behind early and could never recover, as North Carolina State pulled away for a 73-57 win Wednesday night at Assembly Hall in the fourth annual ACC/Big Ten Challenge. Sophomore Karisma Penn led the travel-weary Illini with 12 points and 12 rebounds, her fourth double-double of the season, but that wasn't enough overcome a season-high 26 turnovers.
Michigan 91, Wake Forest 58
ANN ARBOR, MICH. -- Junior guard/forward Carmen Reynolds (Hilliard, Ohio/Davidson) posted her first 20-point game of the season with 25 points and the University of Michigan women's basketball team shot a season-best 66 percent en route to a 91-58 win over Wake Forest in the fourth annual ACC/Big Ten Challenge game on Wednesday (Dec. 1) at Crisler Arena. Michigan moves to 4-0 in Challenge games and remains the only undefeated Big Ten team in Challenge contests.
Michigan State 72, Florida State 64
TALLAHASSEE, Fla.- Kalisha Keane scored 20 of her 22 points in the second half Wednesday night to lead a fierce Michigan State comeback that carried the 25th-ranked Spartans to a 72-64 victory over No. 15 Florida State in an ACC/Big Ten Challenge game. Porsche Poole came off the bench to add 18 points and Brittney Thomas had 14 for the Spartans, who made 19 of 23 free throws and shot 9 of 21 from 3-point range. The Seminoles (6-1) went scoreless for nearly 7 minutes midway through the game as the Spartans went on a 19-0 run to grab a 37-30 lead.
Georgia Tech 67, Northwestern 63
ATLANTA, Ga. -- Sophomore Kendall Hackney turned in a career-best 24 points, including 5-of-9 from deep, but it was not enough as Northwestern faltered against Georgia Tech 67-63 in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge Wednesday evening in Atlanta. Amy Jaeschke came up big in the second half, scoring 18 of her team-high 26 points in the final stanza. She also added nine rebounds and four blocks.
