Illinois 64, Minnesota 50
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - The Fighting Illini opened Big Ten Conference play with a convincing 64-50 win over Minnesota Thursday night at Assembly Hall. Illinois never trailed and led by as many as 19 while picking up its fourth straight win over the Golden Gophers. Despite a slow start (1-for-5 first-half shooting), Illini sophomore Karisma Penn finished with a monster stat line of 20 points, 16 rebounds, six steals and five blocks. The rebounds and steals both marked new career-highs, while the double-double was her fifth-straight and her conference-leading ninth of the season. RECAP

Indiana 71, Northwestern (rv/rv) 69
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Senior Whitney Lindsay drove the lane and connected on a layup with three seconds remaining to capture an exciting 71-69 win over Northwestern (11-3, 0-1) to open Big Ten play for Indiana (7-6, 1-0). The Hoosiers have won their Big Ten opening game in each of the last four seasons. Senior All-America candidate Jori Davis led all scores 24 points adding eight rebounds and seven assists. Aulani Sinclair achieved the first double-double of her career with 15 points and 10 rebounds and Hope Elam was the third Hoosier in double-figures netting 13. RECAP

Michigan, 64, #12/13 Ohio State 51
Senior guard Veronica Hicks (Chicago, Ill./Thornwood) and junior guard/forward Carmen Reynolds (Hilliard, Ohio/Davidson) each tallied 17 points to help the University of Michigan women's basketball team snap a 14-game losing streak to rival Ohio State with a 64-51 win on Thursday (Dec. 30) at Crisler Arena. The triumph is U-M's first over the Buckeyes since the 2001 season and marks Michigan's second consecutive win in its Big Ten opener. RECAP

Penn State 68, #14/13 Iowa 59
Junior guard Zhaque Gray (Chicago, Ill.) drained a three-pointer to complete a late run in the second half as the Penn State Lady Lions (12-3, 1-0) rallied from a seven-point deficit with 6:33 remaining to upset No. 14/13 Iowa (12-2, 0-1), 68-59, in the Big Ten opener for both teams. Penn State outscored the Hawkeyes, 20-4, in the final 6:30 to post their first win over a ranked team since defeating No. 20 Michigan State, 68-60, on Jan. 17, 2010. The Lady Lions claimed their first win in a Big Ten opener since the 2004-05 season. RECAP

Wisconsin 66, Purdue 64

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - After not winning at Purdue since 1984, the Wisconsin women's basketball team ended a streak of 22-straight losses with a 68-66 win over the Boilermakers on Thursday night. The Badgers tied a school record by making 11 3-pointers to key to the win. RECAP
