The first of three 2010-11 NCAA wrestling coaches' panel rankings was released on Thursday, with 76 Big Ten grapplers earning top-33 status in their respective weight classes. The final edition of the rankings will be used as a tool to determine the qualifiers for the 2011 NCAA Wrestling Championships.
The Big Ten's 76 ranked wrestlers leads all conferences, with the second-highest total belonging to the EIWA with 53. All 11 conference squads have at least five ranked wrestlers, with Michigan, Minnesota and Penn State boasting nine each. Northwestern's Brandon Precin leads the way at 125 pounds, while Michigan's Kellen Russell also holds No. 1 at 141 pounds.
