The third annual Big Ten Hoops Day 5K takes place Sunday on the streets outside Conseco Fieldhouse.

Big Ten fans, competing as runners, joggers and walkers, will be dressed in gear from their favorite conference school and passing by all the designated Big Ten university restaurants along the way.

There is a "traveling trophy" that will be awarded to the local alumni chapter of the Big Ten university with the best individual performances in the 5K, as well as an award for the best cheer station, as Indiana and Purdue have captured the crown in the last two years.

The top  overall finishers (male and female) will receive prizes.  There will also be prizes given for categories such as 'The Most Spirited Fan', so be sure to wear your school colors.

Basketball goals will also be set up outside Conseco Fieldhouse for pre-race shooting and water/cheer stations will be located along the route.

Also, nearly 150 youth participants will run an abbreviated 1.2-mile course (as part of the 5K course) to complete their Marathon in 51 Days. These youngsters have been running a half mile daily either at school or on their own over the course of 50 days.
