Minnesota's Second Varsity Eight claimed the first Big Ten Boat of the Week honor of the 2011 season after competing against No. 16 Tennessee on Saturday on Melton Hill Lake in Oak Ridge, Tenn. Earning the win was coxswain Sara Baldvins, Christine Beauparlant, Ellen Hughes, Leah Rogotzke, Kathryn Switalski, Ali Haws, Katrina Pichelli, Kate Ladell, and Maddy Bourgeois in a first-place time of 6:15.10.
