Catcher Adam Davis beat out a bunt single with one out in the sixth inning, breaking a string of 11 consecutive retired Illinois hitters and igniting a six-run outburst that gave the Illini the lead for good as they beat Michigan State 11-8 on Sunday to clinch a series win. The Spartans entered the series tied atop the Big Ten standings with Indiana, but the weekend finished with five teams within a game of co-leaders Michigan State, Purdue and Penn State. MINNESOTA def. INDIANA, 5-2

Michigan scored three early runs and held on to beat the Iowa baseball team 5-2 in the series finale Sunday afternoon at Duane Banks Field.
