Watkins earns Big Ten Player of the Week honors for the second time in 2011 after hitting .625 and recording an OPS of 2.300 in leading Iowa to a 3-1 record last week. The junior catcher was 5-for-8 at the plate, also reaching base seven more times as she was hit four times and walked three more, drove in seven runs and scored four. She reached base safely in eight of nine plate appearances in the weekend series with Northwestern, recording six RBI and scoring four runs, while capping the weekend with a pair of homers in the series finale.

Pitcher of the Week
Morgan Melloh, Indiana
Sr., P, Fishers, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern

Melloh is named Big Ten Pitcher of the Week for the third straight week after winning four games and saving another as Indiana went 5-0 last week. In 29.1 innings of work, the senior struck out 58 batters, allowing just seven earned runs for a 1.67 ERA. In a pair of victories over Ohio State, Melloh struck out 22 and surrendered just six hits in 12 innings. Picking up the save in 2.1 innings of relief against Indiana State, she then went the distance in both contests against Wisconsin, turning away 30 Badger batters to help the Hoosiers finish the week undefeated.

Freshman of the Week
Andie Varsho, Purdue
OF, Chili, Wis./Marshfield

Varsho wins Freshman of the Week accolades for the fourth time this season after finishing the week with a .455 average, six runs scored and three RBI. Her RBI in the second game against Illinois tied the contest, while her RBI in Game 1 against Ohio State drove in the game's winning run. Helping Purdue to a 3-1 mark against Big Ten competition, Varsho stole a base in each of the Boilermakers' five games last week to move into the program's top five on the single-season steals list.
