Purdue 11, Illinois 6
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Boilermakers kicked off a busy week with a doubleheader split against Big Ten foe Illinois on Wednesday. The Fighting Illini took Game 1 9-3, but Purdue responded with an 11-6 come-from-behind victory in Game 2 to even the series. Senior Suzie Rzegocki threw complete games in both halves of the doubleheader, adding another record to her tally in the process. With the two full games, she moved ahead of Brooke Baker (2004-07) on the career list for complete games with numbers 95 and 96. Baker threw 95 complete games as a Boilermaker. RECAP

Illinois 9, Purdue 3
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Illinois Softball split its doubleheader at Purdue on Wednesday, claiming the victory in game one, 9-3, before falling in the finale, 11-6. Danielle Zymkowitz led the Illini at the plate, going 5-for-7 (.714) over both contests with four runs scored, three RBIs and two walks. Hackett Meredith also found success on offense during both games, securing five hits in eight at bats (.625) with two doubles and a home run to go with four RBIs and two runs scored. RECAP

Northwestern 4, Michigan State 2
EVANSTON, Ill. -- Junior Adrienne Monka (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif./Rancho Cucamonga) broke a 1-1 tie with a fifth-inning home run in the second game of a Wednesday doubleheader against Michigan State at Sharon J. Drysdale Field, putting Northwestern in the lead for good during a 4-2 win for the Wildcats. RECAP

Michigan State 13, Northwestern 4
EVANSTON, Ill. - The Michigan State softball team (21-18, 3-7 Big Ten) split its doubleheader with Northwestern in Evanston, Ill., on Wednesday, April 13. The Spartans made quick work of the Wildcats in game one, winning in five innings by a score of 13-4. NU rebounded with a 4-2 victory to close out the doubleheader. Both senior Lindsey Hansen and junior Brett Williams ended the day going 3-of-5 at the plate with a double, a home run and seven total bases. RECAP

Iowa 2, Minnesota 1
The Hawkeyes used an exceptional pitching effort from sophomore Chelsea Lyon in the night cap to run out 2-1 winners. The Oklahoma native allowed a single hit in the contest and finished with three strikeouts. Iowa pushed both of its runs across the plate in the top of the third inning. Sophomore Ashley Akers reached on an error to lead off the frame before moving to second base on a Carmody groundout. Ochoa then followed with an infield single to put two runners on with one out. Minnesota 4, Iowa 2
Behind a 2-for-2 performance from the plate by freshman Bree Blanchette and a 10 strikeout performance from freshman Sara Moulton on the mound, the Minnesota softball team extended its winning streak to five games in Wednesday's opening battle with Iowa, beating the Hawkeyes 4-2 in the first of two games. Indiana 9, Ohio State 0; Indiana 3, Ohio State 2 BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Indiana completed the doubleheader sweep of Ohio State with 9-0 win in five innings in game two. Junior catcher Cassie Gogreve hit a grand slam in the bottom of the fifth inning to cap off the win for the Hoosiers (24-15, 6-2 Big Ten). It marks the best start to a Big Ten season and the best overall start to a season since 1996. RECAP
