MADISON, Wis. -- Kendall Grimm hit her third home run of the season in a four-run second inning as Wisconsin (23-18, 3-7) rallied for a split in its doubleheader against Minnesota (26-19, 4-6), winning game two, 5-3. Amanda Najdek picked up the win in a strong relief appearance. The freshman threw five scoreless innings with three strikeouts and no walks. Najdek scattered just three hits as she improved to 3-2 on the season. RECAP

The Minnesota softball team picked up its fifth-straight series opening win on Wednesday afternoon, picking up a 1-0 win over the Badgers in the first contest of a scheduled doubleheader. In the circle, Sara Moulton threw her 13th shutout of the season, moving her within one of tying Briana Hassett (2009) and Vicki Swanson (1978) for the most shutouts in a season at Minnesota. Moulton struck out seven and walked three in seven innings of work while the Badgers spread just three hits over the game. RECAP

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -- The No. 1-ranked University of Michigan softball team won its first test as the nation's top-ranked team, earning a pair of 5-4 decisions for the doubleheader sweep at Penn State on Wednesday evening (April 20) at the Nittany Lion Softball Park, home of Beard Field. Junior third baseman Amanda Chidester (Allen Park, Mich./Cabrini HS) went 5-for-8 with two runs scored and three runs batted in, including the game-winning, seventh-inning home run in the opener, while junior leftfielder Bree Evans (Bloomington, Calif./Rialto HS) similarly posted back-to-back multi-hit games with a 4-for-8, two-RBI performance.
