University of Wisconsin Director of Athletics Barry Alvarez announced today the hiring of Bobbie Kelsey as the new women's basketball coach of the Badgers. Kelsey comes to Madison from Stanford, where she served as assistant coach the last four seasons.

"I am thrilled to be able to welcome Bobbie to the Badger family," Wisconsin Director of Athletics Barry Alvarez said. "Her record of success everywhere she has been speaks for itself. I was obviously very impressed with her resume and was convinced she was the right person for the job once I got the chance to meet with her in person. She has a definite plan for how to bring success to our women's basketball team and the knowledge and enthusiasm to execute that plan."

In four seasons at Stanford, Kelsey helped the Cardinal to a 137-14 record and a Final Four appearance each year. A former national champion with the Cardinal in 1992, Kelsey helped guide Stanford to three Final Four appearances as a student-athlete (1992, 1995, 1996) and served as co-captain in 1995 and 1996.
