ILLINOIS def. INDIANA, 4-3
Senior left-fielder Casey McMurray made his first home run of 2011 count as he ripped a one-out blast in the bottom of the ninth to give Illinois a 4-3 win over Indiana on Thursday and move into sole possession of second place in a hotly contested Big Ten race. Matt Dittman and Brandon Hohl also belted solo homers - the third time this season that Illinois has hit three long balls in a single game - and Kevin Johnson posted his second-straight quality start, allowing two earned runs in 8 2/3 innings. MICHIGAN STATE def. NORTHWESTERN, 3-0

MINNESOTA def. OHIO STATE, 3-2
Minnesota walked off with a 3-2 victory over Ohio State in the first game of today's doubleheader at Target Field.

Minnesota (21-20, 12-9) was led by Nick O'Shea (Blaine, Minn.), who went 1-for-3 with a home run and an RBI. O'Shea was the first Gopher batter to hit a home run at Target Field this season. Matt Puhl also went 1-for-3 with a double and one run. AJ Pettersen and Troy Larson each notched an RBI for the Gophers, with Larson's RBI single scoring Justin Gominsky with the winning run. OHIO STATE def. MINNESOTA, 5-1
Minnesota's baseball team fell 5-1 in the second game of a doubleheader versus Ohio State on Thursday at Target Field.

Minnesota (22-21, 13-10 Big Ten) was led by Dan Olinger, who went 2-for-3 with a triple and scored the Gophers' lone run. Andy Henkemeyer  added two hits, going 2-for-4, while Nick O'Shea and Matt Puhl each went 1-for-4 with O'Shea driving in Minnesota's run. PURDUE def. IOWA, 6-3
Frustrated for seven innings by Iowa ace Jarred Hippen, Purdue baseball erupted for five runs in the eighth inning, highlighted by a three-run triple from Andrew Dixon, to rally for a thrilling 6-3 victory Thursday afternoon in the opener of the final Big Ten Conference series of the season.
