Purdue 4, Wisconsin 3
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - It may have been Senior Day at the Varsity Softball Complex on Sunday, but it was a pair of freshmen who came through in the clutch. Purdue topped Wisconsin 4-3 in nine innings thanks to a leadoff walk by Tori Chiodo and a two-out RBI single by Lindsey Rains, which sealed the come-back victory. Rains went 4-for-4 and posted a walk to lead the Purdue bats, which managed four runs on nine hits and two errors. Rookie Danielle Fletcher also had two hits in the contest. Wisconsin put up its three runs on seven hits and two errors. RECAP

Ohio State 1, Michigan State 0
COLUMBUS, Ohio - On Senior Day and Mother's Day, the Ohio State softball team defeated Michigan State, 1-0, Sunday afternoon in front of its home crowd at Buckeye Field. The Buckeyes (14-33, 3-13 Big Ten) claimed the conference victory against the Spartans (26-24, 5-11 Big Ten) after posting seven hits, while senior pitcher Karisa Medrano threw a two-hit shutout performance in the circle for the Scarlet and Gray. Northwestern 4, Indiana 1
EVANSTON, Ill. -- Locked in a pitcher's duel and trailing by a run against Indiana on Senior Day Sunday at Sharon J. Drysdale Field, Northwestern saw freshman Marisa Bast (Orange, Calif./Villa Park) step up big with a fifth-inning grand slam to give the Wildcats a 4-1 victory in their final home game of 2011. With the win, Northwestern now is 23-18 overall on the year, 5-11 in the conference. The Wildcats snapped the Hoosiers' 15-game winning streak with their win, the longest winning streak in the nation entering Sunday. Indiana now is 35-16 on the season, 15-3 in the Big Ten after its loss. RECAP

Michigan 8, Minnesota 1
ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 2-ranked University of Michigan softball team scored early and often to cruise to an 8-1 decision over Minnesota on Sunday afternoon (May 8) in front of 1,524 fans at the Wilpon Complex, home of Alumni Field. With the weekend sweep, the Wolverines improved to 16-2 in Big Ten Conference play and share the top spot in league standings with one more regular-season series remaining. Michigan earned extra bases in half of its 10 base hits against the Golden Gophers, accumulating four doubles and a triple. RECAP

Penn State 3, Iowa 2
IOWA CITY, Iowa -- The Penn State softball team used two-run, third-inning rally to down the Iowa Hawkeyes, 3-2, on Sunday afternoon at Pearl Field. Lisa Akamine (Escondido, Calif.) went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a double at the plate, while earning her 11th win in the circle. RECAP

Completion of Saturday's game: Michigan State 12, Ohio State 2
COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Michigan State softball team (26-24, 5-11 Big Ten) split its season series with Ohio State on Sunday, May 8 in Columbus, Ohio. After having game two halted in the top of the fourth last night with MSU leading, 7-0, the Spartans wound up concluding the game after five innings with the 12-2 advantage. Game two, the Buckeyes narrowly edged out the Green and White with a 1-0 win. RECAP
