After winning its fourth-straight national championship in 2010, Penn State received 54 of the 60 first-place votes en route to the No. 1 ranking in the poll. The Nittany Lions finished last season at 32-5 overall and won their eighth consecutive Big Ten title.
Conference newcomer Nebraska and Illinois join Penn State in the top 10 as the Huskers rank fifth and the Illini hold eighth in the poll. Minnesota checks in at No. 12 while Purdue follows at No. 13. Ohio State makes its 2011 debut at No. 21 while Michigan stands in a tie for No. 24 to open the season.
