The College Football Performance Awards for the seventh week of the season have been announced with four Big Ten players earning recognition. A Big Ten standout earned National Defensive Performer of the Week for the second straight week as Ohio State's John Simon was honored as the top defensive performer and also as the National Defensive Lineman of the Week. Also on defense, Iowa's Tanner Miller was named the National Defensive Back of the Week and Wisconsin's Chris Borland was tabbed as the National Linebacker of the Week. Fellow-Badger Jared Abbrederis was honored as the National Punt Returner of the Week. The purpose of the College Football Performance Awards is to provide the most scientifically rigorous conferments in college football. Recipients are selected exclusively based upon objective scientific rankings of the extent to which individual players increase the overall effectiveness of their teams.
