Five Big Ten schools appeared among the top 25 of the Associated Press (AP), USA Today coaches and Harris polls, making the Big Ten one of only two conferences with five or more top-25 teams. Coming off a bye last week, Penn State jumped to No. 12 in all three polls, the highest ranking for the Nittany Lions this season. Michigan State and Wisconsin also moved up in both rankings, with the Spartans rated No. 13 by all three groups and the Badgers ranked No. 14 by the coaches and Harris voters and No. 16 by the media. Nebraska was ranked No. 17 in the USA Today and Harris polls and No. 19 in the AP rankings, while Michigan rounded out the Big Ten's ranked contingent at No. 21 in the coaches and Harris votes and No. 22 in the media tally. Ohio State and Iowa received votes in all three polls.
