Illinois' Whitney Mercilus and Penn State's Devon Still have been selected as semifinalists for the 2011 Bronko Nagurski Trophy, the Football Writers Association of America and the Charlotte Touchdown Club announced on Thursday. Mercilus and Still are two of the five finalists for the Nagurski Trophy, given to the top defensive player in the country. Four Big Ten players have earned the award all-time, including the trophy's only two-time winner in Northwestern's Pat Fitzgerald (1995-96). Michigan's Charles Woodson earned the honor in 1997, while Ohio State's James Laurinaitis took the trophy in 2006 and Nebraska's Ndamukong Suh won in in 2009. The 2011 Nagurski Trophy winner will be announced on Dec. 12.
