Wisconsin's Wilson Named Walter Camp Award Semifinalist

Wisconsin quarterback Russell Wilson has been named a semifinalist for the 2011 Walter Camp Player of the Year Award, the Walter Camp Football Foundation announced on Wednesday. Wilson is among 15 players and nine quarterbacks to be named semifinalists for the award. The Badger signal-caller currently leads the Big Ten in passing yards (2,416), touchdowns (25) and efficiency (201.6), as well as total offense (2,711). Twenty-two Big Ten players have earned the honor since its inception in 1937. Ohio State's Troy Smith is the Big Ten's most recent recipient, winning the award in 2006. The list of semifinalists will be trimmed to five finalists on Nov. 30, while the award will be presented on Dec. 8.
