Six Big Ten student-athletes were named to the 2011 American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) All-America teams today, including three each on offense and defense. The Big Ten and SEC were the only conferences with six or more All-Americans named to the AFCA team. On offense, three Wisconsin players earned AFCA honors - running back Montee Ball, center Peter Konz and offensive lineman Kevin Zeitler. The three Big Ten standouts on the AFCA All-America team defense were defensive linemen Whitney Mercilus of Illinois and Jerel Worthy of Michigan State and linebacker Lavonte David of Nebraska.
