The University of Minnesota women's basketball team used a double-double from freshman Rachel Banham and a record-setting first half to pick up a 84-43 victory in its Big Ten Conference home-opener against Indiana. Banham posted her first-career double-double with career-highs of 21 points on 8-of-18 shooting, which included a flawless 5-for-5 performance from three-point range, and 11 rebounds, while adding two assists and a steal. MADISON, WIS. - Coming off of a season-low shooting percentage, the #22/17 Penn State Lady Lions rebounded to connect on 52/3% (34-65) of its shots on the way to an 82-49 win at Wisconsin Monday afternoon. The Lady Lions moved the ball well with 26 assists on 34 baskets. Sophomore Maggie Lucas (Naberth, Pa.) accounted for a game-high 18 points with a career-best seven assists and a steal to pace Penn State. RECAP
Purdue 64, Illinois 63
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) - Courtney Moses made a 3-pointer from the top of the key as time expired, giving #20/21 Purdue a 64-63 win against Illinois on Monday. Ivory Crawford made two free throws with 25 seconds left to give Illinois a 62-61 lead, but Lydia McCully hit just 1 of 2 free throws with 7 seconds left for a two-point lead before Moses nailed the game-winner. Brittany Rayburn had 17 points to lead Purdue, including 13 in the second half. The Boilermakers held Illinois to 37 percent shooting.
