Washington Named WBCA Region 6 Coach of the Year

Penn State head coach Coquese Washington was named a finalist for a second national coach of the year honor on Thursday after being named WBCA Region 6 Coach of the Year. She is one of eight coaches to earn regional distinction and is now in the running for WBCA National Coach of the Year. Washington was also named to the USBWA watch list for its national coach of the year award. Washington led the Lady Lions to their first Big Ten Championship in eight seasons in 2011-12 and was named conference Coach of the Year by both her peers and the media after leading the team to a 24-6 record overall and a 13-3 mark in Big Ten play.
