Michael Phelps (USA, Michigan) became the most decorated athlete
in Olympic history today, breaking the Olympic record with his 19th
overall medal. Phelps swam the anchor leg of the 4x200 freestyle relay,
touching the wall in 6:59.70 for the victory. The three-time Olympian
also claimed a silver in the 200 butterfly. Former Wolverines Charlie Houchin and Davis Tarwater also took home gold medals, helping the USA post the fastest 4x200 relay time in the morning heats.
