2012 London Olympics Central: Day 5

Natalie Dell (USA, Penn State) notched a bronze medal on Wednesday in the women's rowing quadruple sculls event. Dell, along with Kara Kohler, Megan Kalmoe and Adrienne Martelli, finished in 6:40.63 to place third. Ukraine (6:35.93) and Germany (6:38.09) took home gold and silver, respectively. Margaux Farrell (France, Indiana) captured bronze Wednesday afternoon in the 4x200 freestyle relay. Farrell was apart of France's qualifying relay squad.

Roger Espinoza
(Ohio State) and the Honduras squad battled Japan to a 0-0 tie on Wednesday. After three matches, Japan leads Group D with seven points, followed by Honduras with five. Click HERE for the complete standings.

Goalkeeper Betsey Armstrong (Michigan) and the USA women's water polo squad drew a 9-9 tie on Wednesday against Spain in a Group A match. Through two matches, both teams are tied for first in their group with three points. For the Olympic standings, click HERE.

After defeating No. 2 Brazil on Monday, the USA women's volleyball team took down No. 3 China 3-0 on Wednesday. The USA squad, featuring head coach Hugh McCutcheon (Minnesota), Lindsey Berg (Minnesota), Jordan Larson (Nebraska), Christa Harmotto (Penn State) and Megan Hodge (Penn State), move to 3-0 in Group play. Lindsay Whalen (USA, Minnesota) poured in 14 points, with six rebounds and three steals in a 89-58 win against Turkey on Wednesday. The Americans are now 3-0 in pool play and face China (3-0) on Sunday.

Canada's Krista Phillips (Michigan) and Chelsea Aubry (Nebraska) hit the hardwood Wednesday morning against France in Group B action of women's basketball. If you haven't seen the game, check it out HERE.
