In preseason rankings released by ESPN and the Sporting News, the Big Ten is one of only two conferences to have five or more teams ranked in each poll's top 25. Michigan, Michigan State, Nebraska, Ohio State and Wisconsin appear in both rankings' top 25, with the Wolverines leading the way in each at No. 8. The other four teams each boast a top 20 ranking in one or both preseason polls, including Michigan State (No. 12 ESPN/No. 13 Sporting News), Wisconsin (No. 15/No. 12), Ohio State (No. 14/No. 22) and Nebraska (No. 21/No. 17).
