With the third Saturday of Big Ten football now complete, we take a look at the statistical top performers from the games of Sept. 15.
RUSHERS: Eight Big Ten student-athletes broke the 100-yard barrier, led by Nebraska running back Ameer Abdullah with 167 yards and two touchdowns against Arkansas State. Other Big Ten players over 100 rushing yards included six more running backs in Wisconsin's Montee Ball (139 yards, one TD), Iowa's Mark Weisman (113 yards, three TDs), Minnesota's Donnell Kirkwood (110 yards), Northwestern's Mike Trumpy (106 yards, one TD), Purdue's Akeem Hunt (106 yards, one TD) and Indiana's Stephen Houston (102 yards, one TD), along with Michigan quarterback Denard Robinson (106 yards, one TD).
PASSERS: Six Big Ten quarterbacks went over 200 passing yards, led by Illinois' Reilly O'Toole with 333 yards and five touchdowns against Charleston Southern. Other signal callers over 200 yards were Michigan's Denard Robinson (291 yards, three TDs), Indiana's Cameron Coffman (251 yards, two TDs), Ohio State's Braxton Miller (249 yards, four TDs), Penn State's Matt McGloin (231 yards, four TDs) and Iowa's James Vandenberg (228 yards).
RECEIVERS: Six Big Ten players surpassed 100 yards or totaled eight or more catches, led by Ohio State's Devin Smith with five catches for 145 yards and two touchdowns against California and Northwestern's Demetrius Fields with nine receptions for 77 yards against Boston College. Four other wideouts went over 100 receiving yards - Penn State's Allen Robinson (136 yards, three TDs), Indiana's Cody Latimer (115 yards, two TDs), Iowa's Kevonte Martin-Manley (101 yards) and Minnesota's A.J. Barker (101 yards, three TDs).
TOTAL OFFENSE: Four Big Ten standouts went over 250 yards of total offense, with Michigan's Denard Robinson racking up 397 yards (106 rushing, 291 passing) against Massachusetts. Other Big Ten players over 250 yards of total offense were Illinois' Reilly O'Toole (355), Ohio State's Braxton Miller (324) and Indiana's Cameron Coffman (263).
TACKLES: Nine Big Ten defenders tallied 10 or more tackles, led by Wisconsin's Mike Taylor with 15 tackles against Utah State. Other Big Ten players with 10 or more tackles were Ohio State's trio of Ryan Shazier (13), C.J. Barnett (10) and Johnathan Hankins (10), Penn State's Michael Mauti (12), Iowa's A.J. Hitchens (10), the Minnesota duo of Mike Rallis (10) and Derrick Wells (10) and Northwestern's Chi Chi Araguzo (10).
TFLS/SACKS: 10 Big Ten student-athletes posted two tackles for loss or two sacks, led by Penn State's Anthony Zettel with two sacks against Navy. Other Big Ten defenders with two TFLs were Illinois' Ralph Cooper, Michigan's Jibreel Black, the Michigan State duo of Johnny Adams and Marcus Rush, Nebraska's P.J. Smith, Ohio State's pair of Bradley Roby and Ryan Shazier, Penn State's Michael Mauti and Purdue's Ryan Russell.
