Four Big Ten Tight Ends Named to Mackey Award Midseason Watch List

Michigan State's Dion Sims, Nebraska's Kyler Reed, Penn State's Kyle Carter and Wisconsin's Jacob Pedersen were named to the midseason watch list for the John Mackey Award, granted annually to the nation's top tight end. Sims is second on the Spartans with 24 catches for 313 yards with two touchdowns, Carter rates second on the Nittany Lions with 23 receptions for 279 yards and one score, Pederson stands second on the Badgers with 14 catches for 188 yards and two touchdowns while Reed is third on the Cornhuskers with 11 receptions for 141 yards and a pair of scores. Three Big Ten standouts have won the Mackey Award since its inception in 2000, including inaugural winner Tim Stratton of Purdue, Iowa's Dallas Clark (2002) and Minnesota's Matt Spaeth (2006).
