Six Big Ten teams received votes in the latest Associated Press (AP), USA Today coaches or Harris Interactive polls, while two teams appeared among the top 25 of the latest Bowl Championship Series (BCS) standings. Three Big Ten schools were ranked among the top 25 in at least one poll. Ohio State remained among the top 10 at No. 9 in the AP poll after improving to 8-0 with an overtime win against Purdue. Michigan moved up in each poll to be ranked No. 20 by the media, coaches and Harris voters and No. 22 in the BCS standings. Wisconsin returned to the top 25 after a three-week absence to be rated No. 25 in the USA Today poll and BCS standings while placing just outside of the top 25 in the AP and Harris rankings. Nebraska, Northwestern and Penn State also received votes in at least one poll.
