Minnesota's Phillips Collects Academic All-America Honors

Minnesota women's soccer player Allie Phillips earned 2012 Capital One Academic All-America honors, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), it was announced on Thursday. The senior has been a key playmaker for the Golden Gophers, tallying four goals and eight assists this season, while leading Minnesota to a 11-7-2 overall record. Phillips is majoring in Biology and has maintained an overall GPA of 3.97.  

To be eligible for Academic All-America status, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at her current institution and be nominated by her sports information director.
