Penn State's Cardona Earns Academic All-America Honors

Penn State men's soccer player Julian Cardona earned 2012 Capital One Academic All-America honors, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), it was announced on Thursday. A second-team All-Big Ten selection, Cardona finished the regular season fourth in the conference in points (14) and third in goals (6), while leading the Nittany Lions to a share of the Big Ten Championship.

To be eligible for Academic All-America status, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his current institution and be nominated by his sports information director.
