Conference Games
Michigan 7, Indiana 4 (9)
The No. 9-ranked University of Michigan softball team outlasted Indiana and a one-hour rain delay to come up with three ninth-inning runs to win, 7-4, today at Andy Mohr Field. Game two of the scheduled doubleheader was cancelled due to severe weather. Junior Lyndsay Doyle led off the top of the ninth with a scalding single up the middle. Then a heavy downpour caused the umpires to suspend the game for an hour. Once the rain delay ended, U-M plated three runs to take the lead. Doyle scored on a single from freshman Sierra Romero, and then junior Nicole Sappingfield, who reached on an IU error, came around to score two pitches later on a knock from junior Caitlin Blanchard. The Maize and Blue capped the scoring on a base hit from freshman Sierra Lawrence, her third hit of the game. RECAP
